Nike B2B
Nike’s B2B platform Nike.net allows retailers worldwide to purchase wholesale Nike products for resale in their stores and on their websites. Nike.net is downstream from Nike merchandising and covers offering/assortment planning by internal sales teams and goes all the way through order fulfillment for external retailers. On average, we process approximately $12 billion dollars through our site and APIs.
When I joined the team in 2017, they were in the middle of a tech reorg, lacked visual alignment of their applications to a single style guide, and were struggling to keep 8+ year old applications secure and stable. My role was created to bring alignment in Nike.net’s UI and to create and execute a vision for the design discipline in our department.
Strategy
In my time on Nike’s B2B team, I have provided strategic direction for:
Enterprise Level Initiatives:
Asset security to ensure security of product imagery used in customer offerings prior to launch
Enterprise level CMS for product assets across B2B and B2C
Alignment of 8+ year old applications made by different external agencies and geo teams to our latest style guide
Alignment of our department to the Nike enterprise front end React component library
Workshops to develop a cohesive list of personas and user journeys
Design team vision:
Design team growth was ramped up from 3 to 10 and then reduced to 4 due to recent budget cuts
Designer career growth was assessed during weekly 1:1s with each designer to identify areas of focus, discuss progress against quarterly/annual goals, and review design work in progress
Plan and process for how design integrates with product managers, research, and development which was socialized and approved by tech leadership
User Experience & Interface
I have been very fortunate to get to lead and design some important releases to better enable Nike’s B2B business:
Launch of new functions and applications:
New app Prepare Account Offerings for Nike sales reps and account executives to customize their product offerings
New app Virtual Space that allows Nike sales reps and account executives to create 3D renderings of a retailer’s product offering in a virtual storefront
New app Contract Call Offs that allows retailers to access their signed order contracts and place orders against those products and quantities
New app Online Financial Services that allows retailers to pay their Nike invoices
Redesign and rebuild of out of date applications:
Launch of revamped checkout experience
Socialized with global and geo specific stakeholders
Developed a user experience that broke down org silos to create a more cohesive flow
Lead workshops with subject matter experts across the globe to formulate our MVP and subsequent releases
Reviewed UI designs made by my team on a regular basis to ensure consistency with the rest of the B2B platform
Launch of reimagined experience for Download Retailer Assets which is an asset delivery platform to help retailers prepare their stores and websites to sell Nike products
Development of a new vision for order management for Nike’s B2B customers including a revamped order status application including features for self-service like changing delivery dates, cancelling line items, and more
